Popeye Water Concept

And you thought Popeye
only ate spinach...

I was working on a sports water project for Scottsdale-based, Changing Times Vitamins, a portion of which required licensing the image of Popeye for a TV spot. After several weeks of phone calls with Ita Golzman at King Features — who kept referring to the RecoveryX sports water as "Popeye Water", I had an idea.

I'd never seen a water specifically for kids. So I did the research. I crunched the numbers. I created some label and packaging sketches, point of sale concepts, a couple of ads and a PowerPoint. I presented my idea of an additional product line called Popeye Water to the CEO of Changing Times, and zip, bang, boom — nine weeks later, Popeye Water is under a $7.5 million distribution contract.
